Appearance: At a glance, Madotsuki is nothing all that special. She’s a small and thin little girl, with large brown eyes and reddish-brown hair pulled into pigtails. Her wardrobe is youthful, with a bright pink sweatshirt with a checkerboard pattern over her chest, a simple red skirt, and red dress shoes. At the surface, she appears a strictly average young woman with nothing particularly noteworthy about her.

Yet despite her initial childish appearance, Madotsuki can clearly be seen as a mature girl upon a closer look. There seems to be apparent neutrality in her expression, a dull, somber tone in her eyes that gives the impression of greater age despite her small frame.

Personality: Madotsuki is a very blasé little girl. She can take anything in stride with a blank expression of disinterest, because she simply doesn’t care anymore. There’s no real point to it. Everything is just there, and there’s nothing she can really do about it, anyway. That’s how it is, she accepts it, and it’s stupid to believe that anything is really worth getting worked up over.

It’s so stupid, because there’s so much out there. There are things... really bad things. Things so much worse than what you’re dealing with. And you can’t do a thing about it. They just happen, so sit back and watch the chaos. That’s all that can be done, to take it all in. And maybe add to it a little. Join in the chaos, cause some of your own. It’s going to happen anyway, why not exercise a little control over what you can.

Well... honestly, maybe she doesn’t feel as okay with watching things unfold as much as she claims. After all, it’s sometimes easier, you know, just hiding from it all. Curling up and just pretending that nothing happened. Pretending as well as you can, even if it will never leave your head...

Yes, she’s a very bored child.

Abilities: In her dreamscape, Madotsuki is capable of all kinds of strange abilities: some useful, some bizarre, some seemingly pointless. She can change the weather, fly, change shape or appearance...yet these all remain within the scope of her mind, useless in the real world. More mundane abilities that she can access in her dreams—riding a bicycle, playing the flute, stabbing things—her prowess in these in the real world is as of yet unknown.

But even in the here and now, in the solid plane, Madotsuki is noteworthy for one thing: she simply cannot be phased. This girl’s mind is filled with blood, monsters, all levels of disturbing, strange sights. She has seen it all before, and you can throw nothing at her that will slow her down... supposedly.

Weaknesses: After shutting in her room for who knows how long, Madotsuki has very little fortitude or strength. She holds no particular skill in any physical category outside of her psyche, though she can go for long periods of time on very little food.

She also suffers from extreme social anxiety; not only has Madotsuki not actually spoken with another person in a long time, but even the inhabitants of her mind seem to completely ignore her, save for the few that prefer to attack her. The closest she can get is the gawking they do when she puts on a cat uniform; Madotsuki just has no idea how to interact with others.

However, this girl’s largest problem may stem from her apparent fear of the outside world. What exactly she is scared of? She’s not going to simply tell you, of course, that’s her own business. But that does not change that Madotsuki does not want to go outside, to reality, to what lies past her door. So long as she’s dreaming, she can stay safe in the confines of her room and the controlled chaos of her mind...

Manhattanite or outsider? That’s a good question...

History: Something terrible happened to Madotsuki in her past. It involved blood. It involved death. It was terrible.

Perhaps it was the witness of a murder. Perhaps it was rape. Perhaps it was a giant monster, stomping into her home city, leaving tiny murderous demons in its wake. Perhaps it was something else entirely, and maybe it was even a combination of the above. And it wore down on the stability of her mind. And whatever it was, it drove Madotsuki to stay in her room, in her high apartment, and never, ever leave.

Ah, but there was not much to do in her room, all by herself. Nothing but a non-functioning television and game system, a diary, and her bed. So the shut-in slept, all day. And when she slept, she dreamed. Dreamed of doors that led to strange, bizarre places, full of freakish inhabitants, warped landscapes, endless spaces that were so easy to get lost in. So she got lost, wandering through her mind and its freakish sights. And she could wake up at any time she wanted, with but a pinch of the cheek... but time spent awake was brief, with a short time spent recording her dreams in her diary, then returning to bed. Being awake was boring, uneventful, and real. Her dreams were better, so much better.

And in the demented, complicated worlds of her mind, Madotsuki learned how to do things she could not do before. How to summon rain and snow and lightning, how to shrink to small sizes, how to become a completely different person. And how to stab things. To stab the denizens of her brain, so they screamed and bled but didn’t do a thing to stop her.

But then, then her worlds reached their limits, in all their dementia. She could go to new places, learn new things, become a new person, but none of it was real. All that was truly there for her was her room. There was nothing left for her. So she took each ability she’d learned, each new form of herself in the shapes of glittering eggs, and left them in the central hub of her brain, neat and tidy. And she woke up.

There was something outside her balcony. A stool. Had it been there before? Madotsuki climbed atop it, and looked out over the barren landscape outside her home.

And she jumped.
